Ms. Ja'Veion Dumas

I made my entrance into the world on November 29, 1998, in Detroit, Michigan. My parents, Danielle Williams and Jermaine Dumas, were ecstatic to meet me. My education was extremely important to me. I attended Ben Carson High School of Science Medicine. While there, I dominated the volleyball court during my senior year. My serves were a force to be reckoned with. My favorite partner in crime was always by my side on the court. “Heyy Kam Kam,” my BFF in high school and fellow volleyball Diva. Shout out to my stepdad, Anthony Upshaw, for taking me to all my games! I graduated high school in June 2016, decorated with honors. I was also a member of the National Honor Society. My aspirations did not stop once high school was over. Although I was accepted to various universities and received scholarship offers, I made the decision to attend Michigan State University. “Go green, go white!” Of course, my mother was elated that I turned down so much scholarship money to attend my dream university. “Go green, go white!” The coursework at Michigan State was tedious yet rewarding. Nonetheless, I still made time to make up for that lost scholarship money. “Wink, wink. Heyy Mom!” My hustles included being a sought-after makeup artist, a loctician, and a shift supervisor at Bath and Body Works. My entrepreneurial spirit allowed me to have enough money to move off campus. The adulting became real and I bought my first car, Couper, a white Chevy Trax. In May 2022, I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies. After completing college, I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomist, Pharmacy Technician, an Unemployment Insurance Agent, and an Underwriter at United Wholesale Mortgage. My natural gifts were complemented with spiritual gifts. In 2021, I started my first business, Become Fearless, LLC. I did tarot card readings and astrological birth charts for multiple clients seeking answers and clarity about their life. Just ask my big sister, KeKe. I was spot on with my readings. In my spare time, I continued to perfect my craft in makeup by watching various makeup artists on Instagram and YouTube. I was also a doting aunt, affectionately called “TiTi Won Won” by my nephews. My little brother nicknamed me, “Won Won.” I guess this was payback for me naming him, “Durtle.” I loved spending time with my boys. I took them every other weekend on an outing to a park, a bite to eat, a party, or anywhere to get out of the house. We played games while at home. No one was safe when we played Jenga, Trouble, or Uno. Don’t tell my boys that I know they cheated. My love for spending time with people and bringing them together extended to my friends. One friend dear to my heart, Teonna Harris, was more than just a friend. She was like a sister. We enjoyed just hanging out, discussing real life troubles, giving each other advice, and occasionally dressing up to enjoy the night life. My alone time and self-care were important to me. You could catch me doing yoga on my mother’s front porch, hot yoga when I really needed to relax, and working out at the gym when I wasn’t spending time with my family. In an exit true to my dramatic self, I said my final, “Hey Gurl Heyy,” on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2023. I hope I left a remarkable impression on my mother, Danielle Williams; stepfather, Anthony Upshaw; grandmother, Annette Williams; grandfathers, Douglas Williams and Floyd Dumas; sister, Qiana Williams; stepsisters, Esheelle Winters Upshaw, Kasey Colter, and Jyotika Upshaw; brother, Da’Vaughn Upshaw; stepbrother, Marcus Stoudemire; aunts, Ty’Nesha Cloud (Joseph), Cee-Cee Jones, LaTalia Seaton, and Sonya Stallings-Bass; uncles, Douglas Williams, Sr. (Sade), Devin Upchurch and Derrick Upshaw (Lorraine), a great-uncle, great-aunts, and a village of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
