Mr. Harvey Dion Moorer

“My Wonderful Life” Harvey Dion Moorer was born on January 4, 1964 to the late Willie James and Mary Moorer in Detroit, Michigan. He was the fourth of six children. Harvey accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He became a member of Second Ebenezer Church on September 6, 1998 under the leadership of Bishop Edgar L. Vann, II. He faithfully served as a team member on the First Impressions Ministry (Team 1). He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mitchell Moorer. Harvey graduated from Mumford High School in 1982, a Detroit Public School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and became a Corporal and sharp shooter with an honorable discharge in May 1988. A Marine’s Core Values are Honor (integrity), Courage (moral and mental strength), and Commitment (devotion to duty). His higher education in Accounting and Business Finance led him to several careers and professional licenses: Real Estate Broker, Mortgage Loan Officer, and Insurance Benefits Coordinator. Harvey was a Jack of all Trades, “Mr. MacGyver” as we loved to call him. If it was broken, he would surely fix it! God surely works in mysterious ways! He gave Harvey such a kind and sweet spirit that was so God-like. Harvey had the ability to calm nerves and relax fears. Not totally understanding then, but Harvey made sure each and every one of us could survive independent of him and have the Marine mentality of “You come without, you do without!.” We now understand why he did what he did. Harvey truly loved his family and friends unconditionally! Throughout his life he had a passion for living, bowling (he was Mr. 300!), Detroit professional sports, biking, grilling, driving and traveling, home improvements, helping others, and most of all, spending quality time with his granddaughter, Kennedy “Speedy Glue-stick.” He was also looking forward to the birth of his grandson, “Baby Mac” this Summer. Harvey leaves to cherish his loving memory, his Fiancé, Life Partner, and Soulmate of over 35 years, Rosemary West-Bowlson; two children, Ronnie R. Bowlson II (LaRinda) and Dominique McWilliams (Vincent); Granddaughter, Kennedy Browning (all of Southfield, MI); four sisters: Rose Mary Gordon (Gerald-deceased) (of Houston, TX); Terry and Michelle Moorer (of Detroit, MI); Theresa Bell (Bristo Sr.) and two nephews; Bristo Bell Jr. and Aaron Bell (Sade) (all of Ecorse, MI); two best friends, Gerald Skeens (LaShundra) (of Sterling Heights) and Michael Weathers (Uganda) of Romulus, MI; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Harvey will be remembered as a true King, a phenomenal better half, Son, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Caregiver, and Man of God. He was a true leader in every sense of the word, well received, and well respected. Harvey was patient, kind, and an effective listener. He was that person you could count on when you needed a friend. He is truly missed already and will always be loved and cherished by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure and privilege to have met and known him.
