Mr. Glenn Edward Clay

Mr. Glenn Edward Clay departed this life on November 20, 2024, at the age of 57. He was born on May 2, 1967, in Detroit, MI, to Ben Edie and Delores Ann Clay. Glenn was the sixth of seven siblings. Glenn's life was one of kindness, humor, and adventure. He was always ready to lend an ear, share a laugh, offer comfort and support to family, friends, and even strangers. Glenn’s love for the Lord was evident throughout his life. As a young child, he was saved and firmly believed in Jesus Christ. Raised in the church, he never forgot the teachings of God's word. His spirituality was a constant source of strength and comfort throughout his life. When he recently moved to Las Vegas he became a member of Bethesda C.O.G.I.C Glenn attended Henry Ford High School, where he played varsity football and created lasting memories of athletic triumphs. Glenn was also an enthusiastic football fan with his love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After graduating from Henry Ford High School, Glenn attended Eastern Michigan University. He married his High School sweetheart on June 28, 1989. From this union they created “Clay’s Angels”; this is how he often referred to his beloved daughters. LaTanya (36), Raven (34) & Kristina (30). Their union ended in 2013. At the age of 22 Glenn enlisted in the Army for 4 years, where he served with distinction in the Gulf War, also known as Operation Desert Storm. He valued his military service greatly. After serving and being honorably discharged from the military, Glenn and his family settled in Temple Texas, where they lived for several years. Glenn made the decision to return his family to Detroit, bringing them closer to immediate family. Glenn valued the importance of family and wanted his children to grow up with the warmth of close-knit relationships. Glenn was a proud veteran who cherished the bond of brotherhood with his Army comrades. Glenn maintained strong connections with his fellow soldiers, keeping in touch regularly. He looked forward to their annual trips to reunite with his "Black Sweat Army" friends during Veterans Day week. These gatherings were filled with laughter, stories and memories which created an unbreakable bond. A lover of music, Glenn had a range of interests and hobbies that included family outings, attending New Edition concerts and playing board games with family. He loved attending movies and sharing his movie reviews. He also enjoyed activities like snow sledding with family, organizing backyard pool gatherings and hosting the neighborhood fireworks displays on the 4th of July (Independence Day). One of Glenn’s greatest joys was spending time with his daughters. He loved attending their extracurricular activities. He was very proud of each of his daughters’ accomplishments. Glenn semi - retired recently after over 20 years of dedicated service at the Stellantis Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (formerly Chrysler). Throughout his career, Glenn was known for his commitment to his work and his team which made him a valued member of the plant. Recently, Glenn embraced a new chapter of life by relocating to Las Vegas to enjoy a new environment and be closer to his eldest grandsons. Glenn leaves behind cherished memories with his daughters, LaTanya “Tanya” McAfee (DeShaun), Raven Clay (Christopher) and Kristina “K.C.”Clay. Six grandchildren: Tyrei 17, Josiah “JoJo” 8, King 2, Malachi & Messiah 2, Kyler 11mo. Adopted Grandchildren: Mi’Luv 20 & Sunny 19. His siblings: two brothers Dwayne Clay and Carlton Clay; four sisters Angela Tookes (Wilbert), Rovenia Marks (Paul), Christine Bradshaw and Margurite Clay and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was a devoted father, a loving brother, and a loyal friend who will be deeply missed. Glenn, your presence, legacy of love and cherished memories in our lives will always be remembered.
