Mr. Gilbert Mony'e Jones, Jr.

Celebrating The Life of Gilbert Mony'e Jones, Jr.: Minister Gilbert Jones was born on July 9, 1964, an only child to the union of Gilbert Jones, Sr. and Annie Lee Fuller-Jones in Highland Park, MI; both of his parents preceded him in death. He was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system, and graduated from Northwestern High School. Gilbert was an all-sport athlete; he played for the Northwestern Colts football team and baseball during his high school years. Gilbert was well liked as he had a vast employment history; he was employed with Wellington Steel, The Budd Company and Axle Alliance as an auditor to make mention of a few. He was the epitome of a good worker; he was dependable and dedicated; he loved to work and even went to work sick. One of his favorite pastime hobbies was grilling for family and friends. He loved children; he often mentored young men in the family who did not have active father figures in their lives. Many times Gilbert would take them by groups to Belle Isle for fun days; introduce many of the youth to sportsmanship and team concepts. Gilbert attended Henderson Temple under Pastor Virgil Thomas. He also attended Encouragement Corner Ministries under the leadership of Elder W. B. Henderson and Elder Howard Parker. He was currently a member at New Resurrection Faith Ministries and served under the leadership of Bishop M. R. Bussell. He served faithfully wherever his membership was tenured. A Husband, Father and Friend ... Gilbert and Nette met at a very young age and after a long, long courtship they finally married. He married his baby, the love of his life, Lura Annette Henderson and to this union was born three sons. Gilbert and Nette were married on August 18, 1990 and would soon have celebrated their 27th marriage anniversary. They remained friends and stuck with one another since their teen years through their years of their marriage together. Gilbert was indeed an only child but he married a Henderson and inherited 10 brothers and one sister; six of his brothers preceded him in death: Dennis Henderson, Sr., Darnell Henderson, Charles Henderson, Sr. Ozzie B. Henderson, Sr., Lynwood Henderson, Sr. and Tommy Henderson, Sr. His other mother, also preceded him in death, Mother Era Mae Henderson. Gilbert departed this life on July 17, 2017
