Ms. Freddie Mae Richardson

Freddie Mae Richardson was born September 27, 1933 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Fred McMillan and Gladys Powell. She was one of five siblings, Davis Powell, Calvin McMillan, Mary McMillan and Eloise Jefferson all of whom preceded her in death. Freddie Richardson attended Chadsey High School in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Chadsey in 1950. She continued her education at Marygrove College where she studied Culinary Arts. After completing her studies Freddie began to start her family. Prior to her marriage to Everett Richardson, she was blessed with a son Dennis McMillan who suffered a very untimely and premature death as a toddler. In 1958, she married Everett W. Richardson, and to this union was born Everett D. Richardson and Frederica Richardson. They were later blessed with Alexander Conway. Freddie’s former husband Everett preceded her in death in 2010. Her loving son Everett passed away only 12 short hours after his beautiful mother. “MOTHER” is what she was affectionately called by her children and grandchildren; and the title is so befitting. Freddie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always nurturing and caring and ensured that each and every child that was ever in her presence knew without a doubt that they were loved and that love was unconditional. That amazing love extending beyond her family to everyone she came into contact with. Freddie was no stranger to anyone she came in contact with and freely gave of herself to anyone who needed her. Freddie enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved traveling, food, and spending times with family and friends. She was always in style and loved to dress, and could have very well been a fashion icon. Freddie always had a beautiful smile to share and a kind word to offer. Freddie worked at General Die Cast until retirement. She was persistent about getting her position with the corporation and she didn’t give up until they gave her the job at the company; telling the story that “I just kept going back until they hired me.” Freddie loved, believed and diligently served God! She was a long standing member of Second Grace United Methodist Church in Detroit, MI where she enjoyed volunteering, singing and praising the Lord and where the congregation loved her. The father called Freddie to her forever home on April 3, 2013; but before she was to take her place in heaven he allowed her to return to her long-time home of Detroit by way of Port St. Lucie, FL to spend a brief time with her family and friends. We will miss her dearly.
