Mr. Franklin Norah

The Journey: Mr. Franklin Roosevelt Norah was born on November 4, 1933 in Logan, West Virginia, to the late Mr. Mitchell and Callie Norah. Franklin’s family believed in the power of education, love and Christ. He was the third child of five siblings and was known by most as “Frank.” It is from this training that Frank accepted Christ at a very early age. Frank attended Aracoma High School. While in high school, Frank participated in the many sports, but he was most outstanding at basketball. Frank and the team were State Champions of the West Virginia High School Basketball Division. During high school, Frank was loved and earned much admiration from his teachers and fellow classmates. Franklin Norah graduated from Aracoma High School in 1951. After high school, he joined the United States Armed Forces in 1956. He served diligently for several years and received an Honorable Discharge in 1962. Frank was employed with Sinai Hospital in Detroit as a Medical Technician in the X-ray Department and then with The Boys Republic as a Youth Counselor until retirement. In 1985, he started Al-Norah with his wife. Al-Norah was an Adult Foster Care Facility that for over 30 years made a difference in the lives of many. From this entrepreneurial vision, several other locations developed. Frank was very successful with this adventure. He was respected, appreciated, and honored by everyone that he came in contact with throughout his life. He was described as the smooth, quiet, sophisticated, polite man throughout the Detroit Department of Health and Human Services that referred many clients to his facilities. Frank was joined in holy matrimony to Mabel in 1962. They loved and shared each day together for fifty-four years until his illness. Frank was a devoted, adoring and affectionate husband. He believed in putting his family first. Frank was always a loving husband to his wife and a loving father to his stepson Tony Watson. This soft-spoken, smooth, debonair gentleman was a sports fanatic. He enjoyed basketball, football and bowling but his life's passion was cars and clothes. Frank always kept a classy car and he wore the finest clothes in fashion. Frank enjoyed being a fashionisto, trendsetter and the most debonair man in the room. To all that knew Frank, he enjoyed being dressed to impress. Franklin Roosevelt Norah departed this life on Wednesday July 27, 2016.
