Ms. Frances L. Young

Frances Lee Young was born on November 15, 1966 in Prentiss, Mississippi to parents Dessie and U.S Young. Frances was raised in Prentiss until her early teenage years where she, her mother and six of what would be 10 of her siblings relocated to Detroit, Michigan. They soon settled and no longer after the place was called home. In 1993, Frances would become pregnant with her first child. Sadly he would not survive the full pregnancy. Despite this unfortunate event, a year later she would welcome her first daughter, Carriese. In the year of 2007 she would again give birth to her youngest, Niesha. Being a mother is just one of the greatest accomplishments. Her children were the apple of her eye and her greatest joys. Though that love was not short of being spread to others. She showered all her siblings, nieces, nephews and her beloved grandson with that adoration. Frances was know for her love of music, her impeccable sense of fashion and her love of collecting perfumes, cups; pretty much anything that truly caught her eye. Frances loved taking walks and taking her nieces and nephews on store runs to spoil them as often as she could. Frances was known for being headstrong, standing on what she believed or for who she loved. Even as she progressed in life she remained resilient, always quoting her favorite line, “The last time I checked, I was the mama”. To know her was nothing short of a privilege. Her kind and loving spirit touched the hearts or everyone she came across. Frances sadly gained her wings Tuesday, January 27, 2025 at the young age of 58 after her long hand-fought battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents Dessie Harvey and U.S Young, and sisters Carrie Nell Laird and Fannie Ree Young. She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her daughters Carriese Young and Niesha Young. Frances also leaves behind her beloved grandson Malik Hall, her sisters Dewanda Pleasant and Miyoshia Harvey, her brothers Tommy Hill, Samuel Harvey, Jimmy Hill, Herman Harvey and Lennis James Hill. Frances also had a plethora of nieces and nephews who will miss her including Jacqueline Young, A’Brevia Harvey, Devin Hill, Amir Pleasant, Dujuan Pickett, Donovan Hill, Jayelo Harvey and many many more who she loved, cherished and adored. Frances leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and courage that will be cherished by all who knew her.
