Mrs. Frances Yvonne Thomas

In Loving Memory Of: Frances Yvonne Thomas was born on January 30, 1949 to Clarence Edward and Dorothy Marie Aileen Powell in Paducah, Kentucky. As the oldest child, she was a beautiful baby; hazel brown eyes and curly hair. As the family grew, Yvonne excitedly welcomed her siblings. Clarence, Marjia, Sharron, and Esther. The girls enjoyed a joyous childhood. As children, they watched out for one another. Yvonne didn't allow anyone to intimidate her siblings; she would quickly resolve all conflicts regarding her sisters. Yvonne enjoyed life in Paducah, being around family and friends. In 1963 her mom remarried and moved to Detroit, MI, with her step-father Odell Drake. This union produced, two brothers DeWayne and Maurice. They were a welcomed addition to the family, and she loved them very much. Yvonne is a graduate of the Detroit Public School System. She furthered her education by obtaining an Associates degree in Accounting at Lewis College of Business. Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her On April 16, 1966, Yvonne was joined in holy matrimony to Willie Joe. This union lasted for over 50 years. They had three beautiful girls. LaSonya, Sabrina, LaTonya. Yvonne cherished her family; she believed the family was first. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Yvonne had a special gift of friendship, an everlasting impact on whoever crossed her path. She enjoyed cooking and watching people enjoy her meals alongside her husband. They both were phenomenal cooks and relished cooking together. Matthew 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Yvonne worshipped at First Baptist Southwest (Rev. S. Turner), William Street COGIC (Pastor S. Snow), where she received the Holy Ghost. Finally, she settled at New Testament COGIC under Pastor Nick Edwards Sr. (Mother Regina). Upon Pastor Nick Edwards Sr. 's death, Pastor Brian K. Edwards (Valerie) became her Pastor until her demise. Yvonne loved the Lord and doing His work. She worked with multiple auxiliaries in the church. She appreciated the focus on family and biblical teaching. Yvonne also attended Hidden Springs Church with her husband under Pastor Matt Parks (Christine) leadership in Howell. She loved her church members from both congregations, and they truly loved her. Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee. Yvonne leaves to cherish her memories: children, LaSonya, Sabrina, and LaTonya (Larry); sisters: Marjia Brooks (Garnett), Sharron Powell; brothers: Dwayne Drake, and Marcus Drake; sisters-in-law: Audrey Crockett, Patricia Durhal (Kenneth); grandchildren: DeAndre, Siobahn, Timothy, Adriana (Eric), DeAngelo, JaBriel, Xavier, and Alexis; great-grandchildren: Tamia, Giovonni, Amiyah, Zaire, Zafar, Ayzel, Zaniyah, and Addison. Aunts and uncles and a host of nephews and nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, close friends from Howell, DAC, Herman Gardens, and a few special angels. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Willie Joe; her parents, Clarence and Dorothy, her brother Clarence, sister Esther Boyd, and her nephew Ni'Shon Powell.
