Ms. Elise (Elease) White

In Loving Memory Of Elise White was born on July 10, 1946, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to the late Daniel and Susie Hurt, being the third of three children. She completed her education at Broad Street High School and was baptized at McKenny Baptist Church. Elise entered into matrimony with James White Jr. (now divorced), and from this union, they welcomed two children: Gwendolyn L. White-Harris and a son, Jasper R. White, who is now deceased. In 1969, Elise moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she held various positions before securing a role at Sears and Roebuck in Highland Park, MI, where she excelled in the camera department as one of the top salesclerks. She later served as the head cashier at Cattlemen’s Meat Market until her retirement. In 1976, Elise became a member of God’s True Spiritual Kingdom, earning the title of Lady White. Under the guidance of Reverend Ruby Mathews, she was ordained as Reverend Elise White in 1980. Subsequently, she became a devoted member of Greater Emmanuel Temple of Deliverance. As God walked through His garden, He noticed a unique beauty was absent and called her by name—Elise. The Master proclaimed, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant; you have been faithful with a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord’ (Matthew 25:23). On Friday, August 9, 2024, Elise shone in all His glory and accepted the divine call. Upon her transition to her heavenly abode, she was welcomed at the pearly gates by her parents, Daniel and Susie Hurt; her son, Jasper R. White; her sister, Ida Mae Strayhorne; her brother, Robert Hurt; and her nephew, Zachery N. Strayhorne. This celestial reunion was filled with the angel’s singing ‘hallelujah’ as another of God’s soldiers had made it home. Elise’s memory will be eternally cherished by her loving and devoted daughter, Gwendolyn L. White-Harris, and her son-in-law, Marcus O. Harris; at the heart of her existence were her dedicated grandsons, Marcus O. Harris II and Malcolm T. Harris; her niece, Valerie M. Strayhorne; her nephew, Eddie Hurt of Greenwood, MS; and a multitude of friends and family. Elise’s wisdom, delicious home-cooked meals, sense of humor, fashion sense and more importantly, her love and faith in Jesus Christ will resonate in the memory of all who knew and loved her. Take your rest Queen mother, and we’ll see you when the morning comes!!
