Mrs. Dorothy Wesley

Dorothy Arnold Wesley was born November 13, 1933 to the late Ray and Sarah Arnold in Paducah, Kentucky. She attended Central High School in Louisville, Kentucky and matriculated to the University of Louisville in Kentucky where she studied for two years. During her life's journey, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1955, where she studied and received her licensed practical nursing certificate in 1958. In 1967, Dorothy then decided to move to Detroit, Michigan. Upon moving to Detroit, Dorothy continued her educational studies at Mary Grove College and the University of Michigan. She was a proud and diligent employee of Chrysler Corporation from which she retired after 20 years of service. Dorothy believed in the labor union. She proudly worked part-time with the U.A.W. in the Health and Safety Department and went on to receive her certificate in Occupational Safety and Health. Dorothy met and fell in love with Walter Fleming Wesley. Together they lived life to the fullest and were united in holy matrimony in 1970. They enjoyed hosting Talladega meetings at their home where Dorothy was known for cooking delicious meals and we can't forget her punch bowls of delicious pina coladas. Together with their many friends, Dorothy and Wesley enjoyed cruising to warm parts of the world. Wesley preceded Dorothy in death in 1999. During Dorothy's life, she was a fashionable and sophisticated lady who loved elegance and had a fetish for fine shoes and clothing. She also enjoyed watching "Dancing with The Stars" and old cowboy movies. She enjoyed entertaining and socializing with many of her friends, but her serenity and delight occurred as she planted, nurtured and harvested her beautiful garden. She loved her family and she especially loved and was very proud of Vaughn, Linda's son. Vaughn always brought a sparkle to her eyes and she made it known that, "Vaughn is MY grandson!" Vaughn had a special room in her home filled with his old books, games, a small chair, photographs, videos and items both Wesley and Dorothy cherished. Dorothy was excited about Vaughn's enrollment in college and she enjoyed occasionally going to his football games. Next to his mother, Dorothy was his biggest fan. On February 25, God decided that his child needed rest, so he whispered her name. She heard God's call and didn't resist. God sent his angels from heaven to bring Dorothy home.
