Mrs. Dorothy Mae Miller

In Loving Memory Of; Mother Dorothy Mae Miller was born on November 4, 1927, to the late Eli and Vivian Dunlap in Detroit, Michigan. Dorothy was joined in Holy matrimony with the late Robert Earl Miller; to that union five children were born. One son preceded her in death, Robert Earl Miller, Jr. Dorothy graduated from Northern High School in Detroit. She gained employment at the Board of Education for several years followed by Henry Ford Hospital where she retired with 20 years of service. Dorothy also worked for the City Election Commission during elections. Dorothy grew up at the Old 648 Adelaide Street Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Percy Lockett. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost. Mother Miller was faithful to the leadership of the late Pastor Willie Joshua. After prayerful consideration Mother Miller later became a member of Greater Seth Temple Church of God in Christ, under the pastorate of Bishop Designate Phillip R. Jackson. She loved Bishop Designate Jackson, First Lady Jackson and the entire Greater Seth Temple family. Dorothy held a position as Assistant Secretary for 40 years at Lockett Memorial Church of God in Christ/Joshua Temple. It was her spiritual joy to serve as head of the communion table at Lockett Memorial and table assistant at the International Holy Convocation of the Church of God in Christ, when it was held in Memphis, Tennessee. Mother Miller was true to the God of the Bible, the doctrine of our church and her church family. An exemplary faithful wife and mother. She loved her family with all her heart. Dorothy loved to travel with her family, church and friends. Mother would always look forward and enjoyed her daily rides with her son Kevin to Wyandotte, Belle Isle and out to dinner. If anyone was to suggest a trip, her response was, “What time do you want me to be ready?” She loved to shop and was a lady who dressed with class and Holiness. Everything she did was with love and care. Family and friends loved to gather at her home where there would always be a home cooked meal. It must be said; her laughter was contagious. As a child growing up in the church, she became a lifetime friend to Mother Margaret Ivery Grayson for 80 years. This sisterhood was a bond to that of David and Jonathan. They both served the church and loved each other dearly. Missionary Dorothy Mae Miller went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 15, 2019 from Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn, Michigan. She departed this world loving the Lord unconditionally.
