Mrs. Dorothy Louise Hines

Dorothy Louise Hines well known as “Dot”, was born to the union of Susie & Junius Tarrant In Birmingham, Alabama on December 14, 1942. Her parents Junius and Susie migrated to Detroit for work opportunities. While leaving her with family in Alabama until becoming employed. Dorothy later joined them in Detroit, MI at the age of two years. Dot attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Detroit Public Schools. She obtained a G.E.D from St. Peter Claver Educational Center. Then pursued higher education at Highland Park Community College where she obtained a certificate in Healthcare Administration. She became a mother of four children: Donna, Yolanda, Letitia, and Cedric. Spending most of her time caring for her children. Dot later met and married the love of her life James Hines, from this union two children were born Eric and Lionel Hines. She lived in the Diggs Public Housing, where she was recruited and served on the Public Housing Board. Dot worked in her father’s business as Supervisor of Tarrant Adult Foster Care. Dorothy was employed at Detroit Employment and Training Center as a Job Developer. Dot was last employed as a Youth Specialist at Career Works in Detroit, Michigan. Dorothy was a member at Universal Transformation Ministries Church where her faith was very important, she practiced with fervent prayer and actions. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and preparing food for the holidays, she loved spending countless hours with her family, going to church, dressing up, and going to bingo. Dorothy made her transition from this earth to her heavenly father on September 22, 2024. She was predeceased by three of her children, Yolanda, Donna, and Cedric. Her husband James Hines, her parents Susie and Junius Tarrant, her siblings; Branson and Barbara Tarrant, Evelyn Hill, and Clara Brown. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: Three children; Letitia Tarrant, Eric and Lionel Hines. 15 Grandchildren; Donnisha (George) Chappell, Danielle Grooms, Nabate’ (Christina) , Jaray, Amir, Niema, and Diallo Tarrant, Lionel Hines Jr, Crystal Bailey, Tori Heard, La’Vear Pruitt, Curtis Perry, Dorthea (Julius) Jones, Rolanda and La ’Shawnda Tarrant. 32 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one aunt, Marian Andrews and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
