Mrs. Dorothy Louise Eccles

Dorothy Louise (Green) Eccles was born to parents Sarah Janelle Ferguson and Claudie Green in Thomaston, Georgia on July 8, 1952. She was baptized at an early age and later was filled with the Holy Spirit at Faith Tabernacle developing a close and personal relationship with God that guided her every move. Dorothy learned to sew at the age of 9 and soon became known for her creative custom designs and detailed tailoring. Beyond her skills with needle and thread, anyone who spent even a minute in her sewing room immediately took notice of her warmth, compassion, and kindness - and they probably were also immediately added to her Christmas and Birthday Card lists too! While she was born in Georgia, she was raised in Detroit and maintained lifelong friendships she made at Munger Junior High, Murray Wright High School, and Wayne Community College where she learned to type. She later retired from the Budd Company. Dorothy married Perry Eccles Sr. on October 1, 1971 and together they had three lovely children, Veronica Smith (husband: Phillip Smith), Perry Eccles Jr. (wife: Shanita Eccles), and Alicia Eccles. She was also a proud Bonus Mom to Lamont Zeno (wife: Princella Zeno). Dorothy bragged about her children often and her words of praise became endless once she became a grandmother to Sharday Davis (Rest in Peace), Nicole Alexander, Vanessa Zeno, RaShawn Zeno, Taylor Eccles, and Perry (Peanut) Eccles, and later a great-grandmother to Chase and Callie Ava Alexander. She was also thrilled to be the Godmother of Veronique Parker, the daughter of her ‘very best friend in the whole wide world’, Jeanette ‘Freddie’ Parker. “Sister”, as her siblings called her, was also deeply grateful for the many nieces and nephews she had the opportunity to offer her love to because of her sisters and brothers Mattie Ruth Green (Rest in Peace), James Green, Walter Austin (Rest in Peace), Jacqueline Turner, Gail Austin, Deanna Austin, Eugene Austin, Geneva Ray, and Mary Ann Drake. Dorothy Louise Green Eccles will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and remembered as a loyal wife, a loving mother, a dedicated daughter, a sweet sister, and an unconditional friend. She asks that we remember that she loved the Lord and her faith that our Lord can take care of anything and ALL things - even all of us in our grief - will never die.
