Mrs. Cynthia Pye

In Loving Memory Of Cynthia Mae Dokes, was born July 26, 1939 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to William and Inez Dokes. Cynthia was the youngest of three beautiful daughters. Cynthia accepted Christ at an early age, and remained a strong Christian throughout her life. Cynthia was a member of First Fellowship Baptist Church, Wayside Missionary Baptist Church, Greater Community Missionary Baptist, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church (Alabama), and most recently Harvest International Ministries. She was always active in the Church, singing in the choir at an early age, serving on the Usher Ministry and the Deaconess Board. In 1957, Cynthia met Isaac Pye Jr., and in 1959 they were joined in Holy Matrimony. They were joined together for 63 years and to this union, three children were born (Victor, Reuben, and LaTonya). Cynthia worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in multiple capacities until her retirement in 1992. To follow their dream, in 1992 Cynthia and Isaac relocated to Selma, Alabama where they purchased land and built their dream home. They remained there until 2013, when they returned to Michigan to be closer to family and friends. Early in their marriage, they were actively involved in Bowling Leagues and won several trophies while travelling out of state to various tournaments. Cynthia loved fashion and was known for her designer collection of suits and shoes, collecting crystal, sewing, cooking and had a knack for decorating. She took pride in maintaining a beautiful home. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Cynthia was loved by many. She opened her heart and home to those who needed a place to stay or feel welcomed. At work and outside, those closest to her referred to her as Momma Cindy, Mother Pye, or Cindy Pye. At an early age, she was known for her salt and pepper hair, which became her trademark, and was also magnified by her well-kept hair styles. She had a strong love for mints and became known as the “peppermint lady” at the local stores and doctor’s office. You could always count on her having a mint ready to share. Cynthia departed this life on March, 2, 2023 at home with her husband, Isaac, by her side. She was preceded in death by her father and mother (William and Inez), and her two sisters (Lola and Ruby). She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband and best friend, Isaac; her three children Victor (Danette), Reuben, and LaTonya Jackson (Steven); three grandchildren (Christian, Brandon, and Jaidyn); one great-grandchild (Little Christian); eight brothers and sisters-in-law, Ella Moorer, Gwendolyn Jackson, Cleophus (Diane) Pye, Sylvester (Antionette) Pye, Ronald (Brenda) Pye, Debora Herron, Delores Turner, George Cegers (Chicago, Illinois); several play daughters, one special nephew, Harry Robinson, Jr. (Yvette), several very special nieces, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
