Ms. Cathleen Moton

In Loving Memory Of Cathleen “Kitty” Moton was a gentle yet giant spirit. To know her was to love her, and to love her was such a blessing, as she had many layers. Kitty was born in the city of Detroit, Michigan on May 7,1960, the middle child to mother, Rebecca Hayes and late Father, George Moton. Cathleen was raised, welcomed and always surrounded by her family and a host of close friends growing up. Born the middle child, and only girl of 4, “Kitty” was the leader who often “Told everyone else what to do and was not afraid to take charge” as many so often recall her just as her mother, Rebecca, in the ways of just getting things done. Cathleen was educated in the Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Southeastern High School, class of 1978. As a proud resident of Detroit, Kitty raised her two amazing children, Tony Jackson and Martel Moton. Kitty instilled in both of her children the love of God, the love of family, and the love for themselves. It was not uncommon to find Kitty and her children dancing to Motown hits while cleaning the house on Saturdays. She never missed an opportunity to laugh and dance with her children and friends. When remembering Kitty, one cannot help but recall her distinct green eyes. Eyes that gifted her the name “Kitty”. Her eyes were often the start to every conversation with a stranger who soon became a friend. Her kids recall hearing the stories of how Kitty met new friends, especially the stories of Kitty and Veronica’s friendship. It goes without saying that Veronica was Kitty’s best friend and Godmother to Tony & Martel. Veronica and Kitty’s children spent time together enjoying music, White Castle, Roberts Coney Island, and many family home-cooked meals together. Though Kitty will be sorely missed, she leaves behind to celebrate her life, her mother Rebecca Hayes, brothers Lonnie Moton & Dwayne Moton; Children, Lemonze “Tony” Jackson & Martel Moton. Grandchildren, Lemya Jackson, Levaya Jackson & Toni Jackson; Nieces, D’Laina Moton, D’Necia Moton & Dwayne Moton Jr; Nephews, Lonnie Moton Jr. & Darius Moton; best friends, Jean Wright & Veronica Jackson
