Mr. Bobby John Watts

In Loving Memory Of; Bobby John Watts was born on November 29, 1936 to Vern and Lula Watts in Gulfport, Mississippi. Bobby was the first child of the couple and older brother to Vern Watts Jr. He departed this world on January 1, 2020. Bobby always marched to the beat of his own drum and at the age of 16 ran off and enlisted in the Army without his family's knowledge. He was soon overseas and fought in the Korean War. After leaving the service, he came home, grateful to be with his family. He dedicated himself to reading anything he could find and continuing his education. Through the service and trade school he began a nearly 50 year career as a certified navy welder. He met and had the great fortune to marry the lovely Dorothy Mae Robinson. They both loved to travel and take road trips. They were both avid league bowlers and Bobby had an affinity and talent for billiards and cards. They settled down in Erie, PA where they started a family. They had one son Frederick John Watts. Bobby left Erie and started the next chapter of his life in Detroit, Michigan. Where he was a skilled tradesman and welder at Ford Motor Company. He retired from Ford in 2007 after 30 years at the company. His love for travel lasted his entire life. He would hop in one of his bright red sports cars and head down south or to Pennsylvania to visit family and friends regularly. He loved visiting with his many cousins both Watts and Rankins. He especially enjoyed spending time playing dominoes with his younger brother Vern. Bobby was an avid sports fan and lifelong die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. While for most of his life he did not have a home church. He went to services and weekly bible study and sought fellowship at many churches over the years. Later in life he became a member of Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, MI. At the age of 70 he was baptized again and recommitted himself to his faith. He is preceded in death by his parents: Vern and Lula Watts, and his wife Dorothy Mae Robinson Watts. He is survived by his brother Vern Watts Jr., sister in law Betty Watts, sister Minnie Cooley, nieces Elizabeth Watts and Antionette Gates as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives including the Keys family.
