Mrs. Annie Odessa Stevenson

In Loving Memory Of Annie Odessa Stevenson was born on January 12, 1938 in Columbus, Georgia to the union of the late Joe Louis Richards and Cora Jones Richards. She was the last surviving member of her family her brother William Louis Richards and two sisters Margie Richards McCree and Carrie Richards Williams preceded her in death. Mother received her formal education in the Moscogee County School System. After school she married the late Neil Goodman and to this union two beautiful children were born one son Rickey D. Goodman and one daughter Benita Goodman who also preceded her Mom in death. The times and circumstance caused her to move to Detroit in search of employment to provide a better life for her children. While in Detroit she met and married her second husband Albert Stevenson, Sr. They blended their families and became a dynamic duo and shining example of what it takes to make a family work. Never forgetting their humble beginnings they worked hard to serve their family, church, and community. Together they quietly helped and prayed for so many. Mother accepted Christ at an early age at Bellwood Baptist Church. After moving to Detroit united with several churches but spent more than 25 years serving in various capacities at Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Frank Robinson, Jr. Pastor Robinson appointed her to the Mother’s Ministry after many years of service. She was a willing compassionate worker ready to jump in and help whenever and wherever needed and was glad to do it until her health no longer allowed her to. Mother was a giver of her time, talents, and secretly her finances. Dess, as many fondly referred to her had a big smile and an even bigger heart. Quick witted and honest describe who she was. A friend was a friend for life and family was just family that’s it. She was well known for saying well that’s the truth ain’t it. Mother loved to cook and entertain so her home was always open and the coffee pot always on the stove. Upon her retirement from General Motors Gear and Axle after many years she spent her time enjoying her family, having lunches with her sister friends, and shopping. Always making sure the needs of her grandchildren and great grands were always met. Even during her later years and in poor health she cared for her sister. On Monday December 26, 2022 Mother completed her earthly assignment and entered into eternal rest.
