Mr. Alex Sharp, III

In Loving Memory and Celebrating The Life Of Our Beloved, Alex Sharp, III: Alex Sharp III (aka “Pookie”) was born the fourth child to the union of Alex Jr. (preceded his death) and Thelma Sharp, in Detroit, Michigan on September 22, 1959. To this union were Pookie’s siblings, Linda Sharp-Williams (preceded his death), Alvin Sharp (preceded his death), Ronnie Sharp, Annette Sharp, and Paula Sharp. Alex has two sons; Dimitrius Sharp and Dario Sharp. Pookie was proud of his sons’ accomplishments. Dimitrius is employed with Lewis Brisbois a Law Firm in California, and Dario works for the City of Detroit Police Department. Alex attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Detroit Central High School in 1978. Alex started his career early with General Motors Corporation-Pontiac Division (GM) at the age of 24. He loved working for GM so much, that he rarely liked taking vacations. He was employed with GM for 26 years of service until he retired in 2010. After his retirement, he remained in touch with several of his coworkers. Pookie lived a pretty simple life. He enjoyed spending quality time with his lady friend, Marsha Fort. They frequently went out to eat and enjoyed going to concerts. Other than working, he also enjoyed his plants, aquariums, watching the news and sports. Most people don’t know that Pookie always helped his mother plant flowers every year. Ever since he was a young adult, Pookie had an aquarium his entire life. The only time you could not talk to or reach Pookie was when the Detroit Lions (season ticket holder for years) were playing or when the news was on television. Watching the news with his mother was something he enjoyed, until his mother was diagnosis with Dementia. After his mother was placed in a nursing home, Pookie made a point of having lunch with her every day. If you knew Pookie, he loved his Highland family and mentoring the young men in the neighborhood. He made sure he stayed in touch with the families on Highland, and visited them often. The young men in the neighborhood loved Pookie and continued to visit him after he moved from the neighborhood. They still considered him as their big brother. On February 27, 2017, Pookie entered into his final destination.
