Mr. Albert "Billy" Sydney Ayler

THE LIFE STORY OF ALBERT (BILLY) AYLER Billy was a lot of things to a lot of people. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, mentor, friend, and most of all, a child of God. Billy was born on January 4, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the union of the late Albert Sr., and Catherine Ayler. He was the second of five children. His older sister, Shirley, preceded him in death. Billy accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized by the late reverend James E. Wadsworth at St Mark’s Church in Detroit, Michigan, where Billy was a member of the junior choir. Billy received his education in the Detroit public school system, graduating from Chadsey High School. He played the violin in the school’s orchestra. He also attended the University of Detroit, pursuing a degree in political science. Billy enlisted in the military on October 13, 1967, serving with distinction as a legal clerk in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. During his tour of duty in Vietnam, Billy was awarded the Bronze Star for valor. Billy was honorably discharged on November 10, 1975 . Following his military service, which ended in Germany, Billy remained in Germany for 15 years, becoming proficient in the German language. Billy's love of cars led to a career in the auto industry. His strong work ethic and commitment earned him several promotions, which included general manager of one of Virginia's largest auto dealerships. He was a car enthusiast whose passion extended to buying and restoring cars and he looked forward to participating in the annual Woodward Dream Cruise with his daughter, Morgan. After several years working in the auto industry, Billy opened and operated a successful real estate business until retiring in 2015. Through his extensive knowledge of the real estate industry, he helped family members and friends through the home buying process. Billy was a man of many talents. He could sing, play the piano, draw, and cook - just to name a few. His barbecue ribs and peach cobbler were always in demand. After retirement, Billy began working with stained glass, turning rough pieces into beautiful and breathtaking works of art. To know Billy was to know that he was a true and loyal friend, family man, and an all-around good guy. He was a man of great wisdom and knowledge which did he didn't mind sharing with others. Billy married his best friend, Barbara, on April 21, 2018. Through this union, they shared four children: Tiffany, Lauren, Morgan, and Kevin. Billy made his transition on Sunday June 26, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Barbara; three daughters: Tiffany, Lauren and Morgan; one stepson, Kevin; two granddaughters, Madison and Sidney; two brothers, Charles (Theresa) and Michael (Sondra); one sister, Saundra (Martin); sisters in law Shirley (Morris), and Gloria (Maurice); nieces, nephews, and host of friends and relatives.
