Mr. William Carl Myers

William Carl Myers, affectionately known as W.C., Uncle W.C. and Hoggie was born on April 29, 1940 in Grady, Arkansas to the union of the late Zenophon and Classie Meyers. He accepted Christ at an early age at New Baptist Missionary Baptist Church. W.C. was educated by the Grady Public School system. While in school he worked on his parent's farm as well as helping to care for his many siblings. Here is where he gained his strong work ethic. He moved from Moscow, Arkansas in 1957 and headed to St. Louis, Missouri, here he found employment at Jake Evans where he worked until 1967. In 1967, he traveled to the "MOTOR CITY" Detroit, Michigan where he gained employment with Merriman Construction and while working there he also worked for General Motors for 28 years until he retired in 1997. While living in Michigan he paved the way for other family and friends who wanted to come to Michigan for a better quality of life; he never turned his back on anyone. In 1978, he married the love of his life Mrs. Madaline Myers and to this union one beautiful child was born, his heart, his pride and joy Elizabeth Myers. Truly daddy's girl, he absolutely loved, loved, loved Liz with all his heart and there was nothing in the world he would not do for his Shump-Shump as he affectionately called her. If you ever saw him he was always talking about how proud he was of his baby girl. He continued his role as a caregiver while here in Michigan still looking after all of his family. If you were in the hospital or you needed him he would be right there never leaving your side. W.C. loved to fish, watch football and old westerns. His true passion was TRAVELING. He has traveled to more than 40 states and even went to the Bahamas. His favorite place to visit was the Grand Canyon where he visited twice because he enjoyed it just that much. He also attended all of the family reunions except two; he truly loved and valued family. He loved to drive (fast) to a lot of these destinations. Uncle W.C. would always rename his nieces and nephews. Everyone had a nickname, he never called you by your real name, he would call you by what you did. In 2011, he rededicated his life to Christ and joined New Bethel Baptist Church where he was an active member. He departed this life at 4:57 P.M. on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Henry Ford Hospital.
