Mrs. Shelly Baines

In Loving Memory of Shelly Ann Pace Baines, aka (Shellanne), was born on January 15, 1946, the first of five children in Boston, Georgia to the late Glennie and Alma Pace. At a young age, the family moved to Detroit, Michigan. Shelly was baptized and joined Greater St. Peter A.M.E. Zion church where she remained for many years. Shelly attended Detroit Public Schools. She graduated from Pershing High School in 1964. Following which she became employed by R. L. Polk for several years. Shelly later became employed by the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan of Detroit. She was an exceptionally dedicated employee at the Federation for forty plus years and retired in 2008. In 1967, she united in holy matrimony with Celonzer Baines Jr. and celebrated 56 years of true togetherness. Shelly was devoted to her husband “Cee”. She was a doting grandmother, while holding Marc and Sharese close with pride in her heart. Shelly’s passions were cooking, SHOPPING, and attending gatherings with family and friends. She enjoyed going to family reunions and spending time with family. Shelly was the family’s liaison to all events that were going on near and far. Shelly took great pleasure in teaching others how to cook, especially her grandchildren. Julian and Kai learned how to make some of her favorite recipes with her assistance. Shelly peacefully answered her Savior’s call on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Angela Hospice Care Center in Livonia, Michigan. Shelly was preceded in death by her parents Glennie and Alma Pace, her dear sister Annette Jewel Pace and best friend Evelyn Johnson. Shelly leaves to cherish their love and devotion, her husband Celonzer for over a half a century. To cherish the memories and value the lessons she taught two children, son Marc (Kim) Baines and her daughter Sharese (Ben) Jones. Six grandchildren Kai, Anisa, Caleb, Erin, Julian, and Xavier. Two great-grandchildren Samuel and Sebastian. Two sisters Lorine (Malvin) Porter, Valerie Sutton (James Washington), two brothers Tyrone (Colleen) Pace and Alfred (Towanda) Farris. Nieces and nephews Delisha (Tony) Dennis, Durwin (Rubi) Pace, Michael (Tamika) Pace, Marcel (Luciana) Porter, Timothy (Veronica) Pace, Tywanna (Grafton) Russell, Danny Sutton, Brandy Farris, and Kimberly Farris. Godchildren Zoey and Amber. Special sister Hazel Washington and daughter Sharon Sims. Long-time friends Sharon Loverde, Kimberly Hunter, and Angela Mitchell. Host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
