Mrs. Ruth Mae Lowe

Mother Lowe's Journey: For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:6-7 Mother Ruth Mae Lowe was born on February 20, 1925 to Eliza and Percy Arrington in August, Arkansas. She had one brother, Issac who preceded her in death. Mother Lowe was educated in the Arkansas Public Schools system and graduated from Carver High School. Mother Lowe confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. Luke Baptist Church. She knew the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She united in holy matrimony to Thurston Lowe. Together they moved to Detroit, Michigan. To this union, three daughters were born, Marian, Karen and LaDonna (Donnie). Mother Lowe worked various jobs in the city of Detroit, her passion was cooking. She was a short order cook and a really good cook. But what Mother Lowe really loved to do was care for her family. She wore a crown of precious jewels, love, patience, wisdom, comfort. She had a strong shoulder to lean on. No matter the time of day or night, she was always there for you and just a phone call away. Her grands called her Big Granny and always, always, went straight up stairs to give her a kiss before they even took off their coats. Karen, her daughter and Sis. Verna Smith both nurses, took excellent care of Mama, giving her 24/7 hours of loving care. Mother Lowe joined True Love Missionary Baptist Church in 1957 under the leadership of the late Pastor Ernest N. Cox, continued with the late Pastor Herbert B. Robinson, Sr., now under the divine guidance of Pastor Herbert B. Robinson, Jr. Mother Lowe worked faithful and tireless in the service of the Lord. Just a few days before her going home, she was putting people in place for this service, giving directions on who should do what at the Harvest Feast and orchestrating a family potluck dated for this day, November 7. Mother Lowe worked hard in God's army. She was co-chair for Pastor Herbert B. Robinson, Sr., Pastoral Anniversary Committee, secretary of the Christian Education Department, a faithful member of the Mission Department; serving in many capacities, sometimes from Bedside Baptist. Mother Lowe was president of the Altar Circle for nine years. Pastor Herbert Robinson, Sr. named her president emeritus and she still led the present president, Sis. Marian Draines, her daughter, giving her directions on leadership and the importance of the altar. Mother Lowe served as recording and financial secretary in the Prospect Baptist District. She received a number of awards, certificates, trophies and plaques for her service to God. Proverbs 31:31 “Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” God called Mama to come home on October 27, 2015 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
