Ms. Rosemary Adams

In Loving Memory Of Rosemary Adams was born June 25, 1947, to Carolyn Green and Benjamin Hickman in Detroit, Michigan. Rose was educated in Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Chadsey High School where she participated in field hockey and earned her high school diploma. Rose attended Detroit Unity Temple where she was a member of the Detroit Youth of Unity, and she received her spiritual guidance. Rose was very adventurous in her younger years; She loved to sing and dance, and her talent led her to help form a singing group, in the late 60’s, called The Devotions. They cut a record called, The Devil’s Gotten into My Baby. Rose started working right out of high school at a factory in the neighborhood. She later moved to California where her brother Anthony (Tony) resided and stayed for a few years before returning to Detroit. While working for the Detroit Board of Education as a Secretary, she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in business. Earning her degrees helped her become an attendance agent for Detroit Public Schools where she was able to motivate and guide students to strive for greatness. Rose met and married Bernard Adams, before meeting her longtime companion Baldwin Capers. Baldwin was with Rose for many years sharing a lot of good times and being by her side throughout her illness. Rose was a shining light of inspiration and motivation to her family, friends, and strangers. She loved posting spiritual messages outside on her tree, giving out inspirational pens and pads everywhere she went. She faithfully read the Daily Word and watched Detroit Unity online. Rose joined Jesus Anointed Ministry and was a member before falling ill and not being able to attend church. She always made sure our family was aware of upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. Rose was loved by many for the wonderful things she did and her zest for life. Rosemary Adams completed the circle of life on March 9, 2024. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jared A. McNeal; mother, Carolyn Powell; stepfather, Bennie Powell; father, Benjamin Hickman; grandmother, Violet M. Bromery; great grandmother, Carolina Fields and great grandfather, James C. Fields; nephew, Daryl Flood. Those who are left to enjoy the legacy of love and to cherish the many happy memories are her longtime companion, Baldwin Capers; sisters Victoria Miller and Valerie Jean Powell-Moore; brothers Anthony McNeal, Bennie Powell and David Powell; brothers-in-law, Eddie Miller and Ronald Moore; sister-in-law, Paula Powell; nieces, Ivy Josephine Miller, Yolanda Girouard and Cecilee McNeal; nephews, Damien McNeal, Michael McNeal, Christopher McNeal and Robert Girouard; great-nieces, A’Maire, Z’ionna, Melanie, Isabella, Genevieve, Kali, Maliyah, Autumn, Karly; great-nephews, Alexander, Michael, Kaelin and Kolby; cousins Velvia Fields & Althea Hill. A host of family, friends, neighbors her loving cat Markie and the fish.
