Reverend Richard Taylor Jr.

In Loving Memory Of Reverend Richard Taylor Jr. was born on March 3, 1950, in Thomaston, Alabama to Richard Taylor Sr. and Virlelia Beal. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and became a member of Hope Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, Alabama. In 1968, Richard graduated from MCTS/Amelia Love Johnson High School in Thomaston, Alabama, and then moved to Detroit, Michigan to start a new life. That same year he began his career with Chrysler Corporation as a supervisor which expanded over 34 years until he retired. On December 11, 1970, Richard united in holy matrimony with the love of his life Thelma Christian and to this union two beautiful children were born. In 1976, Richard became a member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Strong. He later joined Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1995 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Terry White, Sr. He served on the deacon board for several years until God called him into the Ministry where he became an ordained minister in November 2006. Richard served in many areas at Pleasant Hill including President of the Choir; wherever God led him, he went preaching and teaching the word of God. Richard was charming, sharp, and witty but his love for fashion was unmatched. From heavily starched jeans to one of his many tailored suits, he was always ready for any occasion. He enjoyed being outdoors; whether he was walking in the park, riding his mountain bike, or his favorite pastime ...fishing. Richard never missed an opportunity to enjoy the water and catch a bass or two in the process. In addition, to his love for the great outdoors, Richard loved to drive which landed him a job with Southfield Public School Transportation Department as a bus driver in 2006. Whether he was driving up and down the highway for pleasure or driving his students to and from school he enjoyed the ride and worked tirelessly until March of 2014. On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, God saw His angel was getting tired so he called Rev. Richard Taylor home to rest. He was preceded in death by: his father, Richard Taylor Sr., his devoted wife, Thelma Taylor, sisters, Michelle Henry, Ola Taylor and Bertha Peterson, brothers, Lawrence Taylor and Roger Taylor, his stepfather, Smith Beal and his stepmother Hattie Taylor. His loving memories will always be remembered and cherished by his mother, Virlelia Beal; son, Neven (Kimberly) Taylor, and daughter, Kesha Taylor of Detroit, MI; five grandchildren, Kamry (Robert) Jones, Kameron Taylor, Kaylan Hardy, Neven Taylor Jr., and Keyirrah Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Robert Jones Jr. and Ryan Jones; five sisters, Sharon (Stanley) Fowler, Cassandra Beal, Angela (Lenard) Freeman of Birmingham, AL, Mary Wilson and Cheryl (Teddy) Young of Cleveland, OH; two brothers, Reginald (Betty) Beal of Conyers, GA and Darryl Beal of Birmingham, AL; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, two aunts, Annie Agee and Mamie Kennedy of Detroit, MI, and one uncle Tommy Agee of Stone Mountain, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews relatives, and friends.
