Mrs. Louise Tharpe

Celebrating The Life Of Louise Tharpe: Louise Tharpe was born on August 21, 1935 in Macon, Georgia. She was the youngest of 13 children born to the late John and Sallie Mae Johnson. At the age of two, Louise and her family relocated to Detroit, Michigan in search of better employment opportunities for her father and older siblings. Louise briefly attended Detroit Public Schools but ultimately earned her G.E.D in her later years. Louise was a hard and dedicated worker. She began working at an early age in a variety of fields. She worked as a housekeeper, a waitress and even a caregiver to the elderly. She also worked for the Chrysler Corporation for a brief period of time. In 1953, Louise met her first husband, James Roberts. They were married in January of 1956. From that union, three beautiful children were born; Alison, Janine (known as Angela) and Alastair. Several years later, Louise and James separated and divorced. Louise met her second husband, Sampson Tharpe, through a mutual friend. They were married in July of 1965. They were blessed with two beautiful children; a daughter, Alaenna; and a son, Allyn. Louise loved the word of God and she read and studied it every chance she got. Louise believed that the spirit needed to be fed and nourished just as the physical body needs food and nourishment. Louise also loved witnessing and ministering the word of God to others, and she would preach the word to anyone who was willing to listen. One of her favorite pastimes was watching classic black and white movies, TCM (Turner Classic Movies) was her favorite movie channel and Bette Davis was her all time favorite actress. Very rarely did her television move from that channel. What Louise loved and cherished most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:48 AM with her youngest daughter, Alaenna by her side, Louise received the call to come home. You've fought a good fight, you've finished your course, you've kept the faith, enter my daughter into your rest. Louise departed this life just as she lived this life...worshipping and praising God!!!
