Ms. Elizabeth Hunter - Brown

Thank you. Elizabeth Hunter Brown, known affectionately by the name “Sweet” and “Ma Brown” or “Mother Brown” of Farmington Hills, MI passed away on May 23, 2016 shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was born the second daughter of three to the late George and Nancy Hunter, on November 5, 1925 in Montgomery, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her older sister Dorothy Lee Sylvester and younger sister Lois Vasti Kendrick. Ms. Brown was born on November 5, 1925 in Montgomery, Alabama. She graduated as a valedictorian from Loveless High School in Montgomery, Alabama and attended Tennessee State University. She was united in marriage in 1947 at her home in Hope Hull, Alabama to the late Earl Clarence Brown of Lovejoy, Georgia. Throughout her life and career, she always helped people. Working for the United States Government allowed her to serve our nation and to indulge in her passion for travel. She worked in Cleveland, Ohio, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Albuquerque, New Mexico and finally Maryland where she retired from Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital in Washington, DC in 1992. Following her retirement, she returned to Michigan. For many years until she departed this life, she was Head Mother for her church, Household of Faith, in Detroit Michigan. After her retirement, she was always engaged with her hobbies (sewing and crafts), and helping others. She loved to cook and entertain. She loved God. She cherished her family and life. She is survived by her children, Alan Brown, of Bladensburg, Maryland; Anthony Brown of Novi, Michigan; Nancy Brown, of Farmington Hills, Michigan; Darlene (Tony) Pettiford of Alexandria, Virginia; Manuel (Kalani) Brown, of Gaithersburg, Maryland; and Daniel (Clare) Brown of Ypsilanti, Michigan. Grandchildren: Brian Forest Brown, Marlborough, Maryland; Derrick (Courtney) Pettiford, Lorton, Virginia; Chardey Pettiford, Alexandria, Virginia; and Joshua Bandara Brown, Gaithersburg, Maryland Great grandson: DeAndre T.
