Brian Webster

Brian's Story: Our beloved Brian Roy Webster was born on November 28, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the younger of two sons to the union of Gracie Warren Webster and Richard E. Webster Sr. The oldest is Richard E. Webster Jr. He was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system and attended Pasteur and Higginbotham Elementary and Beaubien Junior High School. He graduated from Cass Tech High School in June 1978. He received his Bachelor of Engineering from U of D College in 1983. He was a member of Greater Quinn A.M.E. Church at an early age and was active with the Boy Scouts and altar boys. He played football for the West Side Cubs which resulted in lifelong friendships. He was gifted with musical talent and attended Mackenzie School of Music where he accomplished piano, drums and cello. He was first cello at Beaubien Jr. High and performed, musical events with his father and brother. He was the featured drummer on a CD produced by his father. He was united in marriage to the "love of his life" Audrey (Dunn) Webster on July 12, 1986 after nine years of courtship, at Oak Grove A.M.E. Church. To this union one son was born, Brian Royce Webster on June 5, 1989. Brian embraced fatherhood and was a proud parent who actively participated with all of his son's activities. He was a member of the PTA, Boy Scout leader, as well as coach. He was a role model and support for his son's friends and classmates. He was very proud of his son's accomplishments of graduating from Case Western Reserve University with a successful college football career and subsequent degree from Cleveland State. He discovered his true passion for leadership when he began coaching the AAU Team "The Family" with his dear friend Durand (Speedy) Walker. He was known as Coach Webb who was loved and respected by all of his players. There was always a Coach Webb story to tell. He was a great influence and father figure to his players. He was the coach everyone wanted to ride with on road trips. He was an avid sports enthusiast. Brian was a dedicated family man and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to travel and was looking forward to the annual Cedar Point trip and his 40th Cass Tech Reunion. He also enjoyed the annual 8 Mile Picnic. He had a great sense of humor and will be remembered for making others laugh and smile when he was present. He enjoyed life and living. Brian maintained a strong work ethic beginning in his teens. Starting as a paperboy and a lifetime career in electrical engineering, wiring and design, lasting over 30 years. He received his five year recognition plaque from Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems. He will be missed by his co-workers and friend Brian Ulrich who have remained a great support during his illness. On Sunday, July 22 at 4:15 p.m., surrounded by family and friends, the Lord saw he was tired and called him home.
