Mrs. Betty Jean Delgodo

In Loving Memory Of Betty Jean Delgodo was born on March 24, 1937, in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia. Her parents were the late Mr. Johnny Evans and the late Mrs. Hattie Taylor Evans. She was the fifth child of seven siblings. Betty's ancestors settled in the Black Creek Community, eventually establishing roots in Milledgeville, GA, where they lived for many years. The Taylor and Jackson families were among the founders of the Second Macedonia Baptist Church est. 1867. At an early age, Betty was baptized and brought into the faith. Her devotion to Christ, family, and community remained a cornerstone of who she was until her last breath. Betty gained many life lessons which prepared her to meet the day-to-day challenges of life. Betty's education began in the Baldwin County Public School system, culminating in graduation from George Washington Carver High School, Class of 1958. She not only received an education, but she attended school with siblings, cousins, and community children, establishing many lifelong friendships. Following her graduation, she went on to pursue a career as a Paraprofessional at the Detroit Public Schools System for 21 years and was part of the missionary board at Mt. Calvary AME Church. Betty met the love of her life, Herbert R. Delgodo from Detroit, Michigan. They married in February 1957. Sixty-plus years, what a blessing! Betty and Herbert were blessed with four children: Duaine, Ricardo, Angela, and Herbert John. After the passing of her beloved husband, Herbie, Betty was naturally lonely, and often expressed her longing for him on many occasions. They shared a lovely marriage that was built on love, respect, and companionship. Both are true to their character, quiet, respectful, private, calm, and above everything, they loved God and put him first in their marriage. Our beloved Betty Delgodo transitioned just as she lived, peacefully, on February 28, 2023. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Hershel Evans, and three sisters, Ruth Evans (Floyd Sr.) Griffin, Margaret Evans Pinkston (Julian) Ford, and Alma Evans (Johnny Sr.) Speights. She shall be mourned by her brother, Bennie Evans (Nina); sister, Johnnie Mae Speights (Frederick) and Mary Frances Butts-Evans sister-in-law; children: Duaine (Anita), Ricardo (Evelyn), Angela (Winston) and Herbert John (Quanita). Grandchildren: Crystal (Terry), Fredrick (Daniel), Rianna, Gabrielle (Kevin), Mya, Keiyana (Lawrence), Richard (Alexzandrea), Taurian (Cierra), Taje (Kiara), Tylon, Aleka (Tim) Nodja and Winston Jr. (D’Andra). Great-Grandchildren: Terry, Harper, Sur Von Mariani, Darryl Jr., Alex, Nolan, Ireland, Lawrence, Kaleb, Jenisys, Sydnei, Sariah, Salem, Sophie, Taje Jr., Roz, Skylar, Mylah, Roxi, Jadore and Maya. Goddaughter: Christine, and many, many other close family members and friends.
