Home Going Service Of Althia Tapplar-Lindsey: Althia Knowles, who was lovingly known as, “Joy” was born July 12, 1949 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to her parents Clinton and Alice Knowles. Joy was the youngest of five children. She later moved to Detroit, Michigan to live with her father and stepmother, Eva Rule-Knowles. Joy accepted Christ at an early age. In her early years she attended Turner Chapel C.M.E. Church. In 1968, she graduated from Mt. Clemens High School. Joy was the proud mother of Tiffany Nicole Tapplar and Willie Tapplar Jr., from her previous marriage. Joy worked at Ford Motor Credit from January 9, 1978 until she retired on March 31, 2001. She became a member of Word of Faith International Christian Center on November 1, 1996. She was also a Touch Group, Section Leader. In 2003, Joy was ordained by Bishop Keith Butler and graduated from Bible Training Center. Eventually, Joy met Sanders Lindsey Jr. whom she affectionately called Sandy and became acquainted with him for over a year. On May 9, 1998 they initiated their journey as one when they exchanged vows of holy matrimony. Althia Tapplar-Lindsey was dedicated to ministry and steadfast in her love for the Lord. After leaving Word of Faith, she and her husband Sandy started Faith in The Word Ministry. Joy had such a strong passion for children and teens. Her passion compelled her to establish a youth program called,” Girls, Let’s Talk” out of Romulus Middle School. She also headed, “Women of Wisdom” out of her home. In 2012, Joy and Sandy moved to Ruskin, Florida to enjoy their retirement. Upon arrival, they became members of First Baptist of Gibsonton, Florida. Eventually, they would transition and become members of IMPACT Church, where Joy was on the prayer team. Joy was very personable, witty and full of life. She possessed an exuberant personality that was magnetic. She radiated with an energy that infectiously spilled over on all those in her company. She loved to cook for family and friends. She enjoyed making everyone feel welcome when you visited her home. She was very affectionate toward her husband Sandy and loved to cater to his needs. Joy was sent straight from God’s Kingdom, one of the finer pieces in his majestic treasury. Joy peacefully made her transition to heaven, on March 9, 2018 in Sun City Center, Florida. The legacy of her life will not be forgotten but cherished by all those who she leaves behind. Althia Tapplar-Lindsey fought the good fight of faith, royalty is now her reward.
